Welcome to my Cardcaptors site, which I hope will become the most comprehensive guide to Cardcaptors EVER. Originally the anime began in Japan, but was dubbed for American kids and aired on the WB. Going against many people's advice, I decided to make this website anyway! Made in the early 90s, and brought over to America in 2000, the anime like many is based on a manga. It appeals to young girls, resembling the popular franchise of Sailor Moon. The story of Cardcaptors is pretty basic--a young girl, Sakura one day discovers that she has magical powers to save the world from magical forces. While going through her dad's stuff (by the way her dad is archeologist), she opens a book which releases the Clow Cards and their guardian Kero. She is then told by Kero that she must capture these cards to prevent them causing destruction to the world. The cards were created by a powerful sorcerer named Clow Reed. Clow Reed harnessed the power of magic into separate, distinct entities - Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth, Clouds, Wind, Rain and Electricity. When the entities became unwieldy and dangerous, he captured their powers and contained them within cards. These Clow Cards were put into the mystical Clow Book and sealed to protect the world. Clow Reed designed the book so it could only be released by someone possessing magical powers. To protect the book's contents, Clow Reed created a protector - Keroberos, the Guard Beast of the Seal, who rules the Sun. 'Kero' embodies the form of a small yellow creature who becomes the Cardcaptor's valued mentor and teacher. And on the back of the book, Clow Reed created Yue, who rules the moon. Yue is the judge of those who come into possession of the cards, deciding if they are worthy of such possession.
